USA ready to defend world championship

USA Team enjoys bullet train ride from Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport to Douai, France

Douai, France- The USA had very little time to develop team chemistry as they only had two practices before their first exhibition game against Slovenia. But they USA fought hard to capture a 103-79 win over Slovenia.

USA Elite, Head Coach, Linzy Davis, put his philosophy in place that led the USA Elite 19u National Team to a world championship last year and his high school to a NEAA national championship, and he coached the 13u USA National Team that went unchallenged against 16 other countries the previous weekend in the World Championship, Ardres, France.

"The players bought into our philosophy." said Coach Davis. "We had to work through 30 turnovers of which 17 of those turnovers came from two players. However, we had to encourage them not to doubt the system and don't be afraid to fail."

Thaddeus Young led the USA in scoring with 22 points, Chase Budinger had 18, Jeff Allen and Brook Lopez finished with 15 points, and three other players were one point away from double figures.

The word spread quickly about the balanced power the USA had representing them, despite the fact that Vernon Macklin didn't make the trip which cut the roster to nine.

The USA seems well-prepared for their first game in Group play against the Netherlands.
